Week 30 (December 28) - Happy New Year

It was sooooo good to hear all of your voices!!! A little weird but so good. It was so awesome to hear that you guys are all doing good.

So this weekend was really cool and I will tell you a little bit about it. We did a zone attack in Gorbea and then each missionary went with a member so we had tons and tons of people in Gorbea searching for less actives. We found a bunch of info for all of them.

We had a good day in church. My companion is a maquina. Machine. On the stand the first counselor was like uhhhh this person has a talk but they aren’t here so Hermana Moran? and she went and gave the best talk ever. Then I got to teach the lesson in principles of the gospel.

I was studying the Book of Mormon and the Restoration this week and I was reading in D&C 84:54-57 it was pretty strong for me because the whole church was condemned because they didn’t use the book of Mormon enough in their preaching. SOOOooo we were thinking about our investigators because a lot of them can’t read and we came up with some good ideas. But I am telling you guys this because we have one investigator who’s name is Irene (so ready for baptism but needs to get divorced and married) she can’t read at all. BUT she can read parts of the Book of Mormon and she is understanding!!!!!!! Its seriously a miracle. I have such a strong testimony of the Book of Mormon and it grows every single day as I read and apply the words in my life. I want you guys all to put goals for the New Year (obviously fam tradish ((but you can’t put them in the cabinet and never look at them again))) but add the book of Mormon in your goals this year. I know it will help all of you in every single part of your lives.

PS one of our investigators Isidro might be baptized this Saturday YEA

Week 29 (December 21)

That´s what everyone says to me in the streets here. Haha it´s so cute.

I am SOOO stoked to see you guys over skype!! Google hangout sounds perfect. We are going to skype at a partial member’s house. They are the ones who feed us 3 times a week. Familia Fica. I think we are going to skype around 8 our time so that is like 5 or 4 your time? I want to see alllllll of the family and hopefully the new baby?!!! I AM SO EXCITED FOR HER!!

I am glad that you guys are doing missionary work and are pumped about it. That makes me so happy!!
This week was SO AWESEOME!!! We seriously had a week of miracles I don’t even know where to begin with everything. I think I can just explain over skype to you guys.

We found this family who are inactive but just wait.........she has 20 siblings. 20!!!!!!!!!!! Who all live in this one pueble called quitratue in our sector. We hit it off with her and her husband. Wait that sounds so weird. But she is so happy that we found her. Part of her family are members and part of her fam aren’t. We have major plans to baptize and reactivate with this family. We are so so excited.

The members are helping a ton and it is making a huge difference. Our Branch President went away to work for a few months so we just have our First Counselor. Haha it is so fun being in a Branch. Our goal is to make it a ward one day. Why not?

I can’t wait to see you all this Christmas!!

Love you all the whole world full and more.

Week 28 (December 14)

So many things happened this week. I am going to make a bullet list story.
1.     I was thinking of Blanca, our miracle in Angol on Monday and I looked at the list of people who got baptized and SHE GOT BAPTIZED!! It was really cool because the night before I left to Gorbea we had a lesson with her and she was crying and told us that she has this happiness with her that she has never felt before. We explained to her that this gospel brings this happiness. She cried some more and said this is my answer I want to be baptized. And three weeks later she was.

2.      Miguel made us lunch one day with a bunch of uncooked meat. We got SOOO sick.

3.     We woke up one morning and drove to Angol for our Christmas Conference with President and alllll of our mission. IT WAS SO AWESOME. I learned so much and we ate really good normal American food.

4.      We had some really cool lessons this week and found some really awesome new investigators.

5.      anndddd Miguel and Maciel were baptized!!!! Basically all of our Branch came to the baptism and it was so golden. We had lots of struggles with the water but finally got some to come out.

6.     We were praying all week to find a family to teach and on Sunday this man came named Jose Luis. We talked to him and he was like yeah come on over today. We went and bam. All of his family was sitting there waiting to listen to us. SOOO AWESOME. And he saw Miguel get confirmed and he told us that he wants that. Miracles everywhere.

7.......and last but the best......HERMANA MORAN IS STAYING IN GORBEA AND WE HAVE MORE WEEKS TOGETHER!!! We are soooooo so so happy!!

There were probably a lot more points that I missed in my week but this was the jist, gist, ? I dont remember how to spell. woops.
I am so excited for everything that is happening here and I am so happy to be a missionary. Every morning I wake up and I get so excited to be here.
Love you all the whole world full!!!

Week 27 (December 7)

Sorry I really don´t have tons of time today. But I want to give a huge shout out to the BEST mom in the world!! HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY!!!! I LOVE YOU!!!!!!

Also good news. So Miguel is set beautifully to be baptized this Saturday on the 12th so happy birthday momma. He is so golden it´s insane. He prays every prayer at the end of our lessons and always prays that his baptism will go over well. It is so cute. We call him the abuelo escogido. The chosen grandpa. So we got to get some things ready for his baptism.

Also another little girl is getting baptized the same day named Maciel. She is so so cute and so smart.
Marina is SO awesome. She brought us to one of her friends because she wants her friend to have this happiness in her life too. Do investigators ever do that? Never! Go marina!

President wrote me this week and told me that he feels like I am going to find a family this month or next month to be baptized. haha no pressure right? I for sure am going to work hard and find that family.

We have cambios this next week and so I think Hermana Moran will leave. So sad.
I love you all and I want you all to know how happy I am and how sad I am at the same time because time is going by way to fast.

Hermana Kleinman

Actually quick story. Slap on the face story. We have two investigators who want to get baptized but they aren’t married. We brought them to the registro civil this week to put a date for their wedding and we went up there and all of the sudden (the woman) got all shaky and goes uhhhhhhhhhh I have a confession!!!!!!!! I was married one time and I am still married but I don’t think it should count. hahaha I was like ARE YOU KIDDING
But anyways we will get them divorced and married and baptized in no time

And yes I have heard of Hermana Degroff but haven’t seen her!

me and Hermana Rash
and dad they have cherry trees EVERYWHERE here and everyone just hands you cherries for free on the streets. this is one of our investigators who has tons of trees in her backyard. And all the Hermana's from the 3 adjacent zones. We had a conference of Hermanas!

Week 26 (November 30) - I HAVE PULGAS!!!

I hope you still all love me because I have pulgas. I think I got them from this puppy in the street. IT WAS SO CUTE so I touched it and now I regret it. But I stripped all my sheets today and am washing all of my clothes so that I can kill these gross things.

Anyways happy late Thanksgiving!! I totally forgot that it was Thanksgiving this weekend! I hope you guys had the best time and ate some good food. Sounds like you guys did!! Brent in Utah with Clara ;) and the whole fambam in our house. Sounds like a party.

To answer your 3 questions dad!!..Yes we speak Spanish 24/7 and she can speak English when she tries. She understands tons and tons of English so when I have a question about a word or something she knows. Super nice. annddd no still can’t roll my r´s hahaha but I can a little so its progress! Everyone here thinks I am from Germany though because of Kleinman. And yes you guys get to skype with me on Christmas!!

It is finally getting warmer down here. YESS I think summer starts on like December 16 or something. But I am sooooooooo happy so so happy. And yes it is really small. So there are about 30 active members in our branch. Including the missionaries. There is the Branch Pres, and his first counselor and that’s all because there aren’t many priesthood holders. Then me and my comp are in charge of the relief society because there isn’t a presidency. And the other companionship is in charge of young women’s. So we are the presidency basically. And we also have to plan activities because our branch president wants more activities but there isn’t anyone to put them together. So we get to do that! Our goal of people in church was 42 and we got 43 this week. It makes it easier to know everyone really well and fast because there aren’t many people haha. But our branch president is soooooooo so awesome.

There are about 1000 people here i think is the statistic and so yes I will definitely talk to everyone becasue our mission is a contacting mission and contacts are one of our key indicators every day and week so we contact at least 150 people every week. That is our goal as a mission.

Gorbea is SO PRETTY. geez. There are other little pueblos around Gorbea and we go to different ones in the morning. There are so many awesome people here!! AND THE PEOPLE ARE SOOOOOO HUMBLE. So humble. I AM SO HAPPY. It makes it so much better to teach people who are humble. Such a difference. They don’t have much here and it makes me so happy to have what I have.

We eat lunch with 3 families. One family 3 times a week and sometimes the other two but we eat lunch in our house more in this area.

Hmm what else. Our house is really nice and wooden I feel like I am in a cabin.

We had lots of miracles this week but I want to tell you guys about two. We met this man named Miguel my first week and invited him to church in the street. He came!! and so we taught him this week and he was reading in the book of Mormon and in the bible (on his own time) and he found two scriptures that were like the same basically so he said of course this book is true it testifies of the bible! Haha we were like yes Miguel yes!! And this Sunday he came again and he was telling everyone that he is going to get baptized on the 12th so they need to come. He is the cutest old man ever and he lives right behind an active member so it’s perfect.

Other miracle, her name is marina. We found her in her house when we were knocking and she told us to come back another day so we went and we taught her. We were explaining a little about the Book of Mormon and while we were sharing we had a picture of Jesus Christ for her to look at, she said. I have seen that picture before!! i had a dream one time and I saw this picture and she said that she knew in her dream she had to find the religion with this picture and follow it. The spirit was soooooooooooo strong. She came to church and loved it.

The work here is awesome and i am loving life. Always every minute. I am so thankful for all of you and i love you guys!!!

Hermana Kleinman

We had a soc soc activity and these are the members in our relief society!

Hermana Ilda was my companion for 4 days. The first member in Gorbea 30 years ago.

Week 25 (November 23)

Let me just begin by telling you guys how crazy this week was. So I got to Gorbea after a long bus ride. And then first day was normal and we had our district meeting the next morning. Normal. Oh and by the way I am in the smallest zone in the mission and there are 14 people! We had to take a micro for like 30 minutes to get to our zone meeting. There are two districts in this zone and in my zone they are all Latinos except for one of the zone leaders. Then after our district meeting we had to buy food because the only place to buy food here in Gorbea burned down like a little over a year ago...but we did that and then came back to our little pueblo. We were waiting on the side of the street and it was raining reallyyy hard (I thought I escaped the cold but I was wrong) my companion slipped and fell sooooo hard. Like body slammed to the ground. She got up and was soaking obviously so we went to the house to change. We then had a lesson with some new people we found and after the lesson my companion couldn’t get up to walk. Haha dangit. So we were like what the heck happened? Oh yeah you fell and almost died. So the nurse of our mission told her to go to our house and rest. Side note... I LOVE MY COMPANION! She is so cool and soo0o funny. She is helping me with my accent so I don’t sound so greenga hahaha. She is so awesome. But we were in the house and her hip was killing her. I left and did exchanges with the two other Hermana’s in our house so that we could work a little in our area and in their area. I came back and my companion was still in so much pain. So finally at like 1030 at night she couldnt handle it anymore and a member here (the coolest member i have ever met) took us to the hospital. It turns out that my comp dislocated her hip!!! so bad. they put it back into place and gave her shots and pills and stuff. So the rest of the week she was on bed rest and I did exchanges with members and with the other Hermana’s. haha it was a little hard because I don’t know this area at all but obviously possible with the Lords help.

Our branch is so tiny. The smallest chapel i have ever seen but I LOVE IT HERE SO MUCH!!! There are tons of awesome investigators that we have and I am so pumped.

My comp is feeling a little better and I am so excited to work together with her this week.

Love you all!!

Hermana Kleinman

We had lunch yesterday in a recent converts backyard and his name is Renee (Renee here is a man’s name) and it was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo pretty and with the family (coolest fam).

Week 24 - (November 16) Going to Gorbea!!

I am going to the most south sector that you can go in our mission!! I heard it is like a pablito and just tiny and rural so I am super excited! My new comp is going to be Hermana Morán. She is from El Salvador so I have a Latina wahoo! I am really excited for this next change.

This week was awesome and we worked hard and we have tons of investigators who are progressing super well. I am reallllyyyyyyyy really sad to have to leave Angol and the members here BUT I am happy to leave it filled with people who are prepping for their baptisms.

Miracle of the week....we had stake conference this week and we wanted one of our investigators to come and her name is Blanca. She is so cute and mom she looks just like Grandma Bev but the Chilean form. She is so sweet but we think she has a phobia of people. So she was just like no no next week there will be too many people. She wasn´t answering in the morning of Sunday. We turned the corner and BLANCA WAS STANDING OUTSIDE OF THE CHAPEL WHAT. Not to mention an hour early. (We were there an hour early because we sang in the choir. haha my comp has a good voice) but it was soooo awesome. And then she said she could only stay for an hour but she ended up staying the whole time because she loved it. YES GO BLANCA.
I am so happy I had this sector¡. I learned so much hear.

I don’t have lots of time today but I am going to send a bunch of pictures so get ready.

Love you all!

Weed 23 (November 9)

This week was awesome. As always. My comp just received her flight itinerary...weird. We have changes this next week but I hope that I get to stay in Angol for one more change because the next change is only 4 weeks and I love my comp and this area and I want to kill my comp (mission language,, ask Brent haha). But I think I might leave.

Let me tell you about this Sunday. You guys won´t believe it. We worked with the members lots this week with this family. This family is super special. They believe in Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon but are having a hard time accept Thomas S. Monson. And they have committed to coming to church these past two weeks but then don’t. So we were determined to get them to come this week. And guess what. Nataly, her husband Eduardo, their baby and their daughter Germaoni (like harry potter because they are fanatic’s hahaha) CAME YESSSSSS! But wait it gets better. Nataly walked in and looked and said ¨ dad is here?! I didn´t know that he would be here?! Wait for me to go say hi to him¨ and we were thinking who her dad is? She walked over and it turns out that he is one of the investigators of the elders in our ward and they have been teaching him for these past two weeks and he finally came to church. WHAT?! We had no idea!!!! She was so happy!! She didn’t know that he was being taught by the missionaries and visversa for her. Hahaha it´s really cool to see how the Lords timing really is perfect. Gained a stronger testimony of that this week.
We had 10 investigators in the church this week. It is fun to see the members get pumped up about it and about missionary work!!

Macarena is doing awesome!! We have held off on the commandments until she has a testimony of Joseph Smith and the BOM and we were talking with her at the beginning of this week and she said that she knows it is all true and she told us ¨Hermana’s, I can´t take back and return my feelings that i have felt. i know it is true and i can only move forward. YES YES so we are in the process of teaching her the commandments.

This week was so fast and so good. I am learning so much every day and I am so grateful for this opportunity I have to be a missionary and to have these experiences. I love this Gospel and I am grateful for you family and for your examples for me.

Mom- my comp had lavender oil and we put it on our burns and it made me really homesick for a second because it reminded me of you. I love you!!

Hermana meads and I when I hit 5 months wahoooooo!!

It’s hot here. Oh yeah i have this weird rash on my feet and my legs but it doesn´t hurt and the nurse of our mission was in Angol and looked at it but doesn’t know what it is. haha I will send a picture maybe you guys will know. Love you all!!

Week 22 (November 1)

Okay. This week! woohooo!!

We did SO much service this week. Literally every day in the morning but it was so worth it. And we are seeing the blessings. We painted this room that this guy is renting from a Hermana in our ward and he is not a member. We started talking casually about what we do and religion while we were painting with him and the Hermana and he is super interested and so we basically taught him the restoration while we were painting. Yes!!!

And we did something awesome. This guy in our ward called us and told us to keep these two mornings free because we are going to do service in the school for an English teacher. So we went and for their tests they had to do interviews with us haha. It was soooo cool and so fun to see all these kids speaking English. But the third day was the best. It was like a trade for a trade! We helped them with their English and then we got to share something with 40 students from the ages 17 and 18. (Future missionaries) Everyone was paying super good attention and we explained what we do as missionaries and why we are here. Then we shared a video and talked a little bit about what we share. Then we passed out chards and asked everyone if they wanted to hear more and we received like 26 back. YAAAA! it was so awesome. We have only gone to one of the kid’s house but he is awesome and his family is awesome too. But wait this is the best part. We talked to the teacher the next day and she thanked us and she told us thanks for everything but especially thanks for us because she said we touched the hearts of all of the students with our message about God. We have an appointment with her this week and her future husband. It was seriously the coolest thing to share with all of those kids.

This Sunday we saw the blessing in church. We walked in and the parents of Nico were just sitting there with their family. MIRACLE. Because the dad even skipped work that morning to come. Seriously a miracle, and 5 of our other investigators came. Yes. Good good week. The work is picking up here. Pray for Macarena. She has tons and tons of opposition with her family because they are super catholic but she knows this church is true.

AHhhh I love it here in Angol and I love my comp. the 40 day fast is going good! The fast from English is helping a ton. And little things I am doing and I can feel a huge difference. Dad to answer your questions:

We have a cellular haha its really basic but at least we have one right?
We talk to our district leader every night yes. he’s really cool he’s from some city in Utah.
We are in a ward and not a branch
Our building is pretty big! it’s bigger than the building in Mexico but smaller than an average. I need to send a picture of the other building here. HUGE. Biggest I have ever seen. But yes we baptize in our building too!

Congrats and shout out to Jenae Walker!! Yay!! Congrats on the wedding!

The English kids and our Halloween hahaha they don’t celebrate it here and we forgot it was Halloween

Week 21 (October 26)

So this week I want to tell a few cool stories with people and with prayers. We had an intercambio and I stayed in our sector with Hermana Rodrigues from Ecuador. I was a little nervous for this lesson we had with this girl named Nikki Ashley. (yes I know the most American name ever but I swear that is her name...I her mom is straight mapuchi though) but she doesn’t believe in God. We started teaching her a little of the plan of salvation. I had a thought that I need to ask her when she stopped believing in God. So i did and then she told us that when she was 10 her best friend died of cancer. She couldn’t believe that God would let that happen. So we read some scriptures and talked to her about God and how he works. She prayed at the end (first prayer of her life) and it was quiet for like a good 2 minutes after. She looked at us and told us that she felt like she felt like God was with us while she was praying. WHAT. SO COOL!! As of now she believes in God! woohooo!

We also found this woman named Fresia and she has depression because her husband died 3 years ago. We taught her a little of the Plan of Salvation and at the end while my comp was praying the spirit was sooooo there and so strong. She opened her eyes (Fresia) and said that she felt something in her that was really hot and like peace. We explained to her it was the spirit.

Just lots of cool things are happening here. We are doing this thing called 40 days of fasting in our mission and one of me and my comps goal is to only speak in Spanish and it’s helping a ton. Like milestones. I actually might have told you guys that last week...sorry my mind is being so weird switching to English right now.

You guys sound awesome! Sorry I have to go climb this hill right now but love you all the whole world full and know that there is no place i would rather be!!

Hermana Kleinman

one of the other Hermanas investigators hooked us up with tennis last Monday! he owns this place and it was SO FUN!! mom thanks for teaching me some of your skills. my comp and I won obvious.

Week 20 (October 19) -- I still do not have pulgas

Helloooo. I still don’t have pulgas aka fleas and that is a miracle! woohoo!!

But dad I loved your experiences that you put in your letter to me this week! SO cool what?! Why have I never heard those before?

So update on Macarena. She still is the coolest ever in the whole world. In one of our lessons with her she said that she told all of her friends and family that she is going to be baptized into the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and she said that they all asked why. She said that she told them because she felt it in her heart that it was true. EHHHH MACARENA EH! But really. She came to church again and brought her little sister. She is progressing at the speed of lightning.

We got to watch the ground breaking of the temple in Conce and it was awesome. Some awesome talks on the temple and I know I only have like 5 months in the mission but I miss the temple so much. Also it’s SPRING TIME HERE FINALLY!!! Woohooo! The sun is out and people are happier and I don’t have to wear tights! It is a miracle! But the weather is turning out good.

This cambio has been awesome in these past two weeks. We have found so many news and seen so many miracles. Maria Paz and Hernan are still doing awesome. Probably going to get baptized soon. Sorry this is short but I gotta send some pictures. Love you all!!

Also go BYU! And sad for ASU.

Week 19 - (October 12) Wahhhhooo!

Sorry I never know what to put for subjects. I am so lame. But wow. This week though. SO AWESOME. First off shout out to Grandpa Dan for turning 80 this week! Give him my love. He is the best. And I am so happy that Jared is okay! I have def. been praying for him lots.

Another note. Viviana and MariaIgnacia yes they already moved but guess what. They called us this week and they told us that they went to the church in conce and found the missionaries!! They are so awesome. For sure going to get baptized in no time.

Emma was super sick so we couldn’t visit her this week but we have a cita this next week with her. We had a huge huge huge miracle this week and I want to share it with you guys. I have gained a testimony about references now. Listen to this. Hold on tight. Okay so we contacted a reference (named Macarena) from some Elders in our zone and apparently she was searching for a house of prayer. Perfect right? Well we had a lesson with her and we taught her lesson 1. She was asking the BEST questions and was grasping things very quickly. We challenged her to be baptized and she said the whole ï have been baptized thing...we then explained and challenged her again. Then she said okay yes only if I receive an answer. Then we promised her that she would and that she would receive it quick. Here it comes...we knelt down so she could say the closing prayer and it was silent for about 1 minute after she said ¨padre celestial¨ and then we heard her crying so we opened our eyes and she was just crying and crying. We asked her how she felt and she said I have this burning feeling in my chest. It is really hot!! And we explained that it was the spirit testifying and then she said yes yes I have received my answer. Then accepted a date to be baptized. SO COOL I LOVE THE SPIRIT AND THIS GOSPEL! She came to church the next day and it was testimony meeting (perfect). She loveeedddd! Cannot wait to see her later today.

We also are teaching this man named Hernan and he is awesome. He is from the campo and it takes him a little to understand things but he really wants to learn and change. At church this Sunday we had a lesson about temple work and baptisms for the dead in our gospel principles class and we were thinking oh noooo he is not going to understand this. But he did!! And now he really wants to do the work for his dad and his grandpa. So cute Hernan. He just has gotta get baptized soon.

There are so many miracles here it is kind of crazy I feel way way too blessed. This is supposed to be one of the tougher sectors in our mission but I don’t get why because we see miracles daily. My new companion is seriously awesome. She is super direct (in a good and loving way) and I have already learned SO much from her. I cannot wait to have a whole cambio with her and experience more miracles!!

Also I was reading in the BOM this week and in Jacob 5 when the Lord is says what more can I do for my vineyard? It really hit me hard because he says that 3 times. Not 1 but 3. And I was thinking about our investigators and there is always more that we can do for them and for anybody really. I challenge you all this week to think of something or someone in your life and think what more can I do for that or them? Because I promise you there is ALWAYS something we can do.

I love you all times a billion and the whole world full!!
