Week 11 (August 17)

Hey

Lots happened this week. A ton of weird things but it was overall a super good week. The family sounds so awesome! Tell Courtney and Reed to send me more pictures of Everyly and Sadie. My tooth feels fine I haven’t gone to the dentist yet....but soon! Just no time!

Here are some of the answers to Brenties questions...

-my companion, Hermana Rich not Hermana Herrimin.....did you stalk her to find out where she lives? hahahha is awesome at Spanish and she has a cool way of making people feel instantly connected to her. I love it. People tell her that she sounds Chilean all the time.
  • our district has 8 people in it but ill only be with them for another week because the Cambio is already over. I get to be with Hermana rich for another Cambio because she is my trainer and I get to be wither her for 12 weeks wooo!! My district and zone are awesome though.
  • people have gates on all of their houses so we yell alo! outside.
  • when it rains yes we still tract haha I think it is super fun. If we have our umbrellas and we always find miracles in the rain
  • the lunches here are the only meal we eat basically so we leave at 11:30 to go work and have lunch from 1:30-3 and then work until 9:30
  • there are SO MANY LESS ACTIVES HERE it’s really sad but kind of crazy. I just found out that there are 950 people in our ward and only about 90 come every week. Actually 1 out of every 30 people in Chile are members. So we find one about every day at least.
  • we email at a small internet cyber

Okay so this week lots of miracles. We made the goal to challenge someone to baptism every day this week and we did it. Nobody accepted so it was kind of sad but on Sunday after our church we had a cita with this girl that we contacted name Viviana a few days before. She is gold. The lesson was so spiritual and she was crying. Her daughter is 11 and they just moved to Angol. She is divorced and was baptized into the Catholic Church but she said she didn’t feel like she got baptized because of her own will or her own choice and she said that if she got baptized again then she would want it to be for her own self to follow Christ. She then accepted a baptismal date along with her daughter and it was awesome! she seems straight gold so we will see what happens. Pray for Viviana and Mariaignacia.

We also have been showing this Mormon message video after our lunches with members and it is the one about the book of Mormon so look it up and watch it. So good. it’s the black guy who was a bishop and is living in London. After the members always give us a reference so woo!

I had to give a talk in sacrament meeting and I know it helped my confidence with Spanish a ton. So that was a blessing.

None of the people I live with are Chilean’s but from Argentina. Chilean Spanish is just super-fast and they drop all of their s. and they add po in between lots of words. But I am understanding more and more every day!
We went to Victoria this week to do an attkai super pretty. It is by a bunch of volcanoes and we found this milagro lady but she isn’t in our sector so I don’t know what will happen with her.
Love you guys so much!!!!

Love,

Hermana Kleinman

This dude was driving us home to our house and I asked him what this box was in front of his speedometer and he said sushi and then I asked him if he liked sushi and he didn't even answer me he just replied do you guys have time? and my comp said only a few minutes so he then took us on a sushi adventure and then he took us on a tour of some houses of nuns and then asked us to take a picture of him. The weirdest things happen everyday here THE weirdest.

The Hermanas that I live with and Hermana Riiiich!!!!

Week 10 (August 10)

This week was another great week! I don’t even know where to start. First I will answer your questions dad and Brent! so we are teaching three families right now and yes they are all married dad! Which is so awesome. they didn’t come to church though so technically they are not progressing but we have some good plans to get them to come this next week here.

We had a ton of awesome lessons this week but also a lot of our citas fell through. And it seemed like a ton of the people we contacted were less active. A ton a ton of them. So we told them all to come back to church obviously! And guess what. Even though none of our investigators showed up to church, every menos activo that we invited back to church came!!! How cool is that! Some of them cried because they were so happy to see some old friends and it was so so cool.

We had a thing called return and report this week so we had to travel to conce to the mission home. Basically we had to tell them how things were going with our trainers and how our progress is coming along. AH we got a jar of peanut butter. Haven’t had that in a while!

Oh yeah on our way to conce our big bio bio bus got into a bad accident with the little micro bus. Slid in the rain whoops but we are fine! We survived a bus crash wahoooo!

What else happened this week....it rained every day. It is so sunny when we go out so we don’t bring our umbrellas and then Chile just tricks us and pours. cmon Chile!

Thanks for all of the prayers. Congrats to Jessica!!! Tell her that from me okay? And fun in Oak Creek! I can’t wait to go back there. i love you all so so much!

Love your fave hermana in Chile,

Hermana Kleinman

Week 9 (August 3)

Sooo this week was super awesome as always. I keep having to remind myself that I am in Chile. I will be walking and then all of the sudden think ¨whoa I am in Chile on a mission!  You guys sound like you are doing great! Mom you will be awesome at that new calling. I have complete faith in you :) also, congrats to Lola and Teddy! Send me pictures of the pups. One of the members here has a puppy and it is the cutest thing. I love hearing all the updates! I print out your emails every week!

Send me more pictures please!!

So victor isn’t in my sector and I don’t get to teach him but he is progressing! Heartbreaker with Carmen. A few of our appointments fell through and then we called Carmen and she told us to never come back. We were super bummed and so we decided to hit some houses and find someone awesome. My companion and I looked at each other and said yes that house. We knocked and the woman said come in! So we went in the gate to her door and she said come in! A family! Who is married!!! That never happens in Chile. They are a miracle family and we get to teach them again today. So the Lord has a plan in everything that is for sure. We found SO many great people this week. Our week didn’t go how we planned but it turned out better.

Another miracle married fam. We were working with a member girl who wants to go on a mission and all of our citas fell through. So we were in the street and we played the color game! Everyone said a color at once. I said red and gabby (the member) said blue. We looked over and the house was red and blue so we had to knock it obviously. The mom came out and was wearing a red sweater and invited us in. the dad was wearing a blue sweater! And the little boy was wearing a red and blue sweater, haha so cool right? In the middle of our lesson the boy’s eyes went all puffy because he had an allergic reaction (#Satan). But we are going back today!
Another story. We traveled to Los Angles this week to the doctors and the doctor asked me why I was here. I started telling him how the gospel had blessed my life hahaha  dangit. It got super awkward and he was like no for the doctors. Good times.

I decided that one of my biggest struggle here is the huge lunches. I have to say a prayer to myself every day that I will be able to finish the lunches. ahh.

Dad for your questions the Spanish is coming along! I am understanding a lot more. It is just hard because they don’t speak Spanish here. Solo Chilean. But the gift of tongues is real.

My shoes are great. I wear the black ones a lot but usually just my rain boots because it rains every day.
James dyer is in my zone and actually sitting right behind me! haha he is cool! He is happy you found his blog.
I love you guys so much! I am blessed with the best family in the whole entire world. I pray for you all every day. Stay awesome

Love,

Hermana Kleinman

PS i got my package THANK YOU AND THANKS FOR THE BARS!! i got everything safe!! i love you guys thank you so so so much! and that is a pic of my room

Week 8 (July 27)

This week was AWESOME!!

Sorry I was super hyped last week and explained everything terribly. So the area I am in is called Angol. You can look it up it is about 4 hours away from Concepcion. We are in the sector called Alemania 3 and it is great. It is huge! It takes at least an hour to walk side to side. No bikes or anything. We walk walk and walk and sometimes take a collectivo. It does remind me a little of Mexico but not completely the same. The Chileans definitely have their own way of speaking and eating and living. We actually live outside of our sector with 4 other Hermana’s because it is a little dangerous inside of our sector. My companion is from Herriman Utah and her name is Hermana Rich...she doesn´t have a blog so you can´t stalk her parents...she apologizes because she tried but her mom just doesn’t know how and either does she. So there´s that. Good luck stalking. It is fun being with her! She is gluten intolerant and so with my lactose probs....it makes for some interesting lunches with the members hahaha. She has blonde hair as well so it is a curse and a blessing of being together in a country full of black and brown hair. Lots of people are curious to talk to us but some are just creepy! oh yeah and she has been here for almost 9 months! Almost her hump dayyyy!

Some super weird and random things happened this week! oh ya ps i forgot to tell you guys that my first day here I cracked my tooth in half....whoops. okay not my tooth just my cap (again) so its not too much of a worry I just have to wait to get my debt card until I get it fixed!

The people here are so nice and it seems like every time we enter into someone’s house, they give me something. For example, one lady gave us lunch, the fatty meat of a spine of some kind of animal and then I told her it was my first time to have sopapillas! (big mistake) she then went on and gave us a grand total of 7 each. My companion was stuffing them everywhere in her clothes hahaha because remember she can´t eat gluten. Then the lady piled more food on our plates and then gave us shoes!

This week we were as sick as dogs but still worked hard and found sooo many miracles. We had nicolas´s baptism!! It was amazing and the spirit was unreal. He is a rock solid kid. I will send some pics. We also are teaching this woman named Carmen who is so cute. She came to church even though she had been throwing up the night before. How cool? Literally everything we prayed for this week happened. We were able to work hard enough to get the week of excellence which is one baptism, 3 investigators to church and at least 140 contacts.

We had intercambios one day and I got to work with a hermana that we live with. We had a HUGE miracle. We met this guy named victor and he was crying when we taught him and we challenged him to baptism and he accepted. Huge testimony builder.

Mom and Dad for your questions, our ward is big for Chile, about 100 people in total.

We have a washing machine but someone in our ward is going to start washing our clothes.
We dont get ipads haha
My companion likes to work out yes! And no of course we don’t sleep in c´mon parents

Love you all so much! Read your scriptures and you will be happy :)
Love,
Hermana Kleinman

PS the pictures are of Nicolas´s baptism.

Week 7 (July 20, 2015)

So WOW!  So much has happened since I last got to email you guys. The last week in the CCM was awesome. We got to go out and contact people and then we got to go on splits with the sister missionaries in the Santiago East mission. They taught me lots and it was such a cool experience! It made me pumped for the real deal field. Well I am basically the luckiest person in the whole entire world because my trainer is AWESOME. Seriously she is so so so so out of this world cool. For example, I came home for the first time to our house and she decorated our room with balloons and gifts and our first morning together she made us banana pancakes! I love her so much! Also she is such an amazing missionary. She has been teaching me soooooo much. She is just an all-around good example to me and I feel so blessed to have her as my mom on the mish!

We live with 4 other hermanas in this house that is pretty big for Chile! They are all so nice. Two of them are the sister zone leaders and all of them are just so great. The weather here is super super cold and it does rain a lot but I love it! It is so weird because when it rains the earth just soaks up all of the water, kind of crazy. The members here feed us like Kings. Kings not Queens. The portions are gigantic but the food is so yummy!!

The people here are awesome. My trainer really is a good example to me of just talking to everyone. We have hit our contacting goal every single day which is cool and it is just fun to talk to people in the streets. Some guy ran up to us and was saying like its you! its you! and we were so confused but then we realized he wasn’t some golden contact but he just thought I was the girl from the little house on the prairie hahaha.

The dogs here are actually insane and there are probably 700 on every street.

Our ward is super cool there are about 70 members in it and I had to get up this Sunday and introduce myself. Scary but I did it! my Spanish is improving slowly but surely.

MIRACLE! There is this boy named Nicholas and he is getting baptized this Saturday! He is beyond prepared and is so so so awesome. He brings people to church and just loves everything about the gospel. We have seen so many small miracles this week it has been amazing. I love this work so much!!! I love being a missionary. I would encourage everyone in the whole world to go on a mission!

Hermana Kleinman

Week 5 - (July 7, 2015)

wowowow. another great week! and sorry for my bad spelling and punctuation. still getting the hang of these keyboards. so today is my last pday here!! less than a week left and i cannot believe it. time flies.
HAPPY FOURTH! i hope you guys celebrated big because america is the greatest. except mom and dad i do support you guys celebrating in the west indies. jealous!! and looks like so much fun! so for fourth of July everyone here from north america basically wore red white and blue it was awesome. Presidente Doll let us watch copa america because i guess he counted it as a cultural experience haha. it was awesome!! all the teachers were freaking out. it went into overtime and then Chile won with the pk kicks!!! first time ever in 100 years that Chile has won so the city was absolutely insane. honking till 2 am and everyone was so happy!! we are only about a ten minute walk from the stadium so i kinda feel like we were in the middle of it all. so awesome though!! go chile!
this Sunday was solo espaƱol. the whole day. usually we do some classes in English but week 5 and 6 are all Spanish so it was a little struggle but i better get used to it right? haha it just takes so much brain power to sit there and translate every word in my head but i love that i can actually understand and get things out of lessons just like i would in English. we packed one of our suitcases this week with all of the heavy items in it and it got shipped to our missions. so no backing out now right?¡ i even shipped my English scriptures away. i have been studying in my Spanish ones and it has helped a ton. but i know that all of your prayers are definitely helping me!!

So this week is a cool week. we get to go contacting in the Santiago East mission tomorrow! i cannot wait! it is so fun to talk to the people here. me and my companions have made some friends in the mornings that we see every so often so hey maybe we will see them while we are contacting and get their information! we also get to go on splits this week as well. i absolutely cannot wait!! ahh! as much as i love it here, i cant wait to get out of the ccm.
me and my companions have learned so much with teaching our investigators here already. it is so cool because every time we teach one of us will get the thought to ask a certain question or share a certain scripture ect. and someone else in the companionship says exactly what i was thinking or about to say!! it is amazing!

Thanks for your story mom! i loved that and i also love how you and dad are having fun in the west indies and you still share the gospel mom! every where you go, you always are talking to people and sharing the gospel and you have been the best example to me. this work is so important! i kind of want time to slow down a little because i only get 18 months out here! i love you all SO much and pray for you all every day.

i probably won´t email next week because i will be getting my trainer and i will be in conception!! wahooooooo! there is me and one other Hermana from Argentina here who are going to my mission and about 10 elders.

xoxo

love,

hermana kleinman
