Week 77 - (November 28) - 18 Months Ouch!!!!

Yesterday in church I was super sad because we had the coolest lesson with our investigator Pilar and her son Felipe. about the restoration and sealing with the priesthood authority to her husband and other son who died a few years back and she is so excited. she told us she would be at church at 10 but didn’t show up. we had our class of relief society until 11 and still didn’t show up or answer. we had our class of gospel principles and it was at the very end and I was devastated bc still didn’t show up. during the final prayer in that class I was praying so hard that she would come before sacrament. all the sudden our phone started vibrating and it was Pilar!!! when the prayer was over we called her but she didn’t answer. I said to my comp hey Pilar is here let’s go let her in the front and she was like wait your crazy she didn’t answer!! but we ran to the front and sure enough Pilar and her son walked in the gates. I started crying from pure happiness. The talks in sacrament were PERFECT on the authority and temples. She loved loved it. I feel like she really is one of my friends that I promised in the life before this one that i would bring her the restored gospel.

In these 18 months, I have been able to learn SO much. I am so grateful for the mission because it really has changed my life. I was talking with one of my companions one time about our mission purpose and she taught me something that marked me forever. she taught me that our purpose is to invite others to COME unto Christ and not invite others to GO to Christ. In order to invite others to COME unto Christ we have to be where he is and do what he would do if he were here. That changed my perspective on everything. I began to analyze what I needed to change and give up of my bad habits so that I could be closer to where Christ is. I have been blessed to witness miracles on my mission in the lives of others that have changed me. I have been able to grow closer to and know my Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ through the scriptures and through the rough and happy times here in Chile. I could never ever deny the fact that God lives and this is his church. I know that his plan is perfect and I know that this life would be so hard and impossible without our Savior Jesus Christ. I am so thankful for the scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon. I know that what Joseph Smith said is true that a man would draw closer to God with the Book of Mormon more than any other book in the world. I know this is true because I have seen it change so many people’s lives as it has changed mine. I know that this Gospel brings joy and fills the needs whatever need that someone might have. I am so grateful for every minute of these 18 months and for every Chilean that I have met. The members here inspire me and I am so grateful for them also. I am thankful for you fambam and for everything that you guys have done for me. I love you all.

love,

Week 76 - (November 21)

What an amazing week. and how fast.

So updates. Nora and her husband had visits all week so we couldn’t see them but tomorrow! and with Miriam, she is awesome. we had a super special lesson with her about the book of Mormon, keeping the commandments and living the word of wisdom. I love how you can tie literally every lesson together. but she has been reading every night and she sais that she feels happier and happier. she came to church on Sunday and the members LOVE her. She told us at the end and said “Hermanas I feel like I am filled. I feel like I found MY place finally!!¨ We are praying that she can stop smoking and thinking of more ways to help her.

I gave a talk on Sunday about the word conversion. I used you as my example mom and the millions of ways that you share the gospel. everyone told me after that they have goals to be more like the mom of Hermana Kleinman haha. But last night we did a zone attack in our zone leaders sector (we share our ward with them and another pair of elders) and we did it for 3 hours but these hours they shut the door on us every second so we had ten minutes left and we said a prayer to find someone ready. We said the prayer and then went and contacted such a cute family and we all saw a house (with a recent convert) and said THAT house. We knocked it and the member knew the woman inside!!! she let us in and we had such a powerful short lesson. The woman (another nora) accepted a baptism date and she is amazing. I am so excited to see her progress with the elders. It was another testimony for me that Gods timing is absolutely perfect. She told us that yesterday she was thinking that she needed to get closer to God in her life and a few hours later we knocked her door.

We had an intercambio this week (my last one.) and we ate lunch with their bishop. We were talking about seeing people with Gods eyes and trying to see the potential that every child of God has. That’s one thing that I am so grateful for in the mission. learning that. That every single person in the world has huge potential and we can be the hands of God to help them reach their potential. I love this Gospel and I am so thankful for my Father in Heaven and my Savior Jesus Christ. I am thankful for all of you and I am going to finish with the words of President may that he sent to us that are finishing the mission. “I am praying for every single one of you that you won’t be trunky.” hahaha such a great man.

Week 75 - (November 14)

So this week we were able to see some of the fruits of our work the first two weeks in this area. and i want to touch on two of the miracles that we could see together.

So we left with a member to go to a few visits with future investigators. they weren’t in there house so we were like yeah we are here for a reason lets find people. the member saw a cute grandma and said her!! We ran to here before she entered and basically just walked into her house hahaha. Her name is Miriam. She is the cutest lady in the whole entire world. We taught her a little bit about the church because she lives right behind but never has gone. we left her with the restoration to read and the second visit she had read the whole thing and loved it!!!! we challenged her for baptism and she accepted. the next day she went to a baptism of the elders in our ward and loved loved it. she is super ready.

We had found a lady our first week here named Nora. she told us that she goes to lots of churches because she thinks it’s a good thing but she told us that she might go to ours in the far future. So we couldn’t find her for a few days and finally we put a visit with her this last weekend. we called to confirm and she cancelled so we invited her to church obviously. she said thanks but no. 25 minutes later she called us back and said hermanas i felt something after our phone call and i want to go to your church on Sunday so we were like YES okay we will pick you up. (pick you up with our feet and walk with you hahaha) but we got to her house on sunday and her husband (YES they are married!!!!!) was getting ready because he wanted to go also. They stayed all of the three hours and LOVED it. They are excited to learn more.

I am learning a lot about working with dilligance every hour of everyday EVERYDAY. Because I feel like we have been doing this and the miracles are coming. lots of them. We are in a ward of gold. I love the hour of power dad and I think that we are going to try and start to do that here. We are starting a book of Mormon challenge with the relief society and every week we are going to pray about who should it be and that lucky one has to write her testimony in the BofM and has to give it to someone in that week and the next Sunday she gets to share her testimony about her experience and the BofM will rotate every week with someone new. It’s going to be awesome.

Have the best week and remember that Hermana Kleinman loves you

Week 74 - (November 7)

So let me tell you a little miracle in the dream life i am living here in Los Angeles. One day we left lunch early so we said a prayer to know where we should knock. we looked on our map and felt like we should knock this one street San Cristobal. We knocked and people rejected and rejected. We kept knocking and finally this woman with an eye patch opened the door. She said ohhhhh I know you guys and we started testifying to her. It was super-duper hot outside and so she said come in for some water!! We walked in and she starts telling us how she was just thinking that she needed to get closer to God right before we knocked her door. we put an appointment and went a few days later. We sat down a few days later and she invited her two sons to come. We started with a prayer the usual and all of the sudden she tells us that she is a member but relay less active. But she told us that a lot of elders have passed by and she has been waiting to feel how she was feeling to let them in and baptize her kids. But she didn’t feel it until we knocked her door that day. Wow right. So she bears this powerful testimony of the church and her son one of them has 15 years and she goes yeah I really want to learn from you guys. So we are pumped to teach this family.

The first person we talked to here, his name is Marco. He goes hey Helders! Haha (they all call us the Hermana elders it’s so funny) he told us to pass by his house bc his wife is a member. We passed by finally this week and guess how little the world is....the elder that baptized his wife Sonya was Brad Mortenson!!!!! They were SO SO excited when they heard that I know Brad and Cheyenne and Brecken Hahahaha. Marco still hasn’t taken the step to be baptized so we are helping him with that.

I absolutely LOVE this ward. there are so many members here and recent converts that have inspired me so much. i love the members of Chile. They are SO helpful.

We had a conference of Hermanas with Hermana May and to try on pants. The Hermanas in my mission in the future months are all going to have pants. I didn’t have to do it. Hahaha

Love,

Week 73 - (October 31)

This week was insane. literally.

So we got to our sector on Tuesday and got to the nicest house or apartment I have ever seen in my mission. Actually its like a hotel. We have workers to serve us at the door every time we walk in haha I feel like a princess. AND OUR VIEW!!! amazing. the picture with my breakfast burrito is the view we study with every morning (note pictures won’t open she will fix them next email). I am in the best last area EVER. Can you say blessed? Completely.

Well we looked at our area book and there is nothing, absolutely nothing, nothing. Haha sooooo this week we have been focusing on finding. We have found a lot of good people and its awesome to just be led completely by the Holy Ghost. But I have some awesome stories. I’ll have to tell you out of my journal in a few weeks because I have to go.

But we had an open chapel and it was awesome. It’s where we invite everyone from outside and they come in and we give them a tour from banners and at the end there are two elders dressed in white in front of a filled baptism font and they challenge them to baptism. But we invited a man to come and we taught him in our tour and at the end he asked us so how can I be baptized into your church. We led him into the baptismal font and he accepted a date. He is awesome. The spirit was so strong. there are so many people ready!! We just have to find them.

Love You All!!

Week 72 - (October 24) - drum rolllllllllllllllllllllllllll

And I have received my last transfer of the mission...............its crazy.

I am going to Los Angeles!!! an area called san martin and we are opening the sector. I think there were elders there a few transfers ago. That’s what I’ve heard but I heard it’s an awesome ward!! I think it’s in the city but not too sure. But it will be fun to finish opening a new sector and the part most crazy is that I am going to be with hna Talavera again!!!!!!!! wahoo!!

But this week. My mind is in a million places and I am trying to think of a few things that we did that I can tell you guys. This week we did divisions with a few hermanas in the other zone that we are over and it was filled with pure miracles. I was with hna Salles again from Argentina and we found a few new people to teach so we will have to see what happens there.

On Sunday, it was voting day here in Chile so we only had the first hour of church. it was super sad to say bye to the members but they are all pumped to meet you mom and dad. Already planning down, the countdown. So it was kind of like a see you later :) We are still teaching the boyfriend of the member (we two boyfriends of two members actually) and one of them Mateas, we taught him after the sacrament meeting and he finally accepted a baptism date!!!!!!! yay! Remember Carolina the super miracle? yeah well we found her again this week and she wants to be baptized still but there is soooo much dang opposition. We went to look for her and her kids on Sunday morning for the church and the police were there for something that happened to one of her kids. Are you kidding me. But I love her and she loves the gospel.

I’m sorry I really can’t think of everything that has happened. We could do most of our studies this week because we didn’t have tons of emergencies in the mornings and I feel so much better. It’s so important to feed our spirits with the word of God.  I love you all!!!

ps ps ps HAPPY GOLDEN BIRTHDAY TO ALYSA!!!!!!!! I hope 25 treats you so well. sending my love from Chile!!!

love,

Hermana Kleinman

sorry for no pictures this week. one of the pictures I was going to send was our district leader is from Mexico and I begged him for 2 transfers to make tacos and finally he made them>!!!!!!! so. good. so. good.

Week 71 - (October 17)

A week jammed full. How we like it.

So this week we had to capacitate first in the zone of Victoria. we talked about committing people to church. We talked about how the investigators are the ones who have to make the commitment and we guide them with questions. after the zone conference we did a split but worked in trios with the Hermana’s. super fun. one of the Hermana’s had an idea where we knock doors with a balloon and a little paper with a principle inside so the person in the door opens and we ask them to pop the balloon. they pop it and we testify of what’s inside and we got into a few houses haha. I was with hna silva and hna sallez from Argentina and Brazil.

we slept on the floor and had to wake up at like 530 to get ready and travel to the other zone conference in our zone. there have been a few problems so we talked about obedience. mom i told the story about the man who was hiring people to drive his vegetables down the mountain and there were 3 people to volunteer and he hires the slowest but safest one? we used that analogy and explained how God trusts us with his children when we are exactly obedient. it was a good conference. Then we did another gran intercambio but we did it where we white washed in every sector. Haha it was sooooo much fun. I was with hna naranjo from Ecuador she’s awesome. we knocked a door and found a straight golden.

We did practices and breakfast in our zone on Saturday morning and my comp and I made breakfast burritos for all. yum.

So we have been pretty busy but with my comp we were a little frustrated yesterday after church because all of our plans fell through. So we said a prayer and decided with the goal to knock 100 doors and we would find someone who is looking for the truth. We walked out of the chapel and saw a 78 and we were like what why is that number on our board? But we ignored and left. it was pouring rain and freezing but we started knocking and door after door we got rejected. Everyone was apparently washing their baby yesterday. so we kept knocking and knocking. it was late and we were on door number 70. we had only gotten into one house but she didn’t want much so we left. we got to number 78 and knocked Natalia’s door. She opened up and we just started to testify. she let us in and told us that she has one question and doubt. where is the truth?!! is what she said. We almost started crying and testified and left. we will see her again this week but yesterday was such a testimony builder of keep going with faith. It was a trial of our faith ad at the end like always there are miracles. Plus, it was door 78.

I have learned in these past few months that it isn’t about me at all. it isn’t about if I feel like I’m dead tired or I’m freezing or we have to do this or that... it’s about others. everything that we do should be about helping others. mom you are the best example of this.
have the most fantastic week ever!!!

Love,

Hermana Kleinman

Week 70 - (October 10)

So this week. I am going to write with pictures because why not. We started off Monday with a family home evening with one of my favorite families of Chile. Famila Torrez. Awesome people.  Then this week we had mission counsel. We had a lady with her husband come to teach us how to teach the missionaries how they should be exercising. haha it was super funny. it was inspired though because a lot of the Hermana’s are always so sick and so she gave us a bunch of ideas.

oh!!!! I saw Hermana Hopkins and she is finishing training this Hermana from Honduras. my other grandchild yay!

Awesome story. so after mission counsel, Presidente may and his wife were driving down to Temuco so they offered us a ride. we took the offer obviously and we stopped at their house. this is the view from their house. Absolutely beautiful. then they drove us right up to the temple. we got out to take pictures and we started talking to a girl with Hermana May and the girl told us that she was waiting for her husband to finish his work. he is a construction worker on the temple. she told us that they are getting married in February. we started talking about eternal marriage obviously and she was so intrigued. she said that she goes their everyday almost but has no idea what the temple is. they both aren’t members and she was very excited for the missionaries to pass by in her house in Concepcion. but the temple is going to be amazing here. Can’t wait.

So this week we found the promised street. hahha there is a sector in our area with all book of Mormon names. we actually knocked the house with this sign and she let us in. At first I was super excited because I thought this was evidence of the book of Mormon and we told the members and they told us that an old member tons of years ago named this place.

we did service as a zone in a little pueblo. at the firefighter house super fun, we sanded walls and I think that I still have dust in my nose.

SANDRA. so miracle. we were going to teach our convert Mario this week and we couldn’t enter because he was alone and we didn’t have a member so we were like Mario invite your neighbor and so she came over. she loved the service that we did in the house of Mario and she accepted a baptism date. she then came to the stake conference the next day!!! she loved loved it. hahaha when we challenged her to baptism and she accepted Mario goes [WOOHOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I won’t be the alone anymore!!!!! let’s baptize all of the Paltos (his street)] hahahaha I love Mario Mormon. so now we are going to use this tactic to all the neighbors of Mario.

Today we went to Cerro Ƒielol!!!!!!!!! it’s so dang pretty the view. hahaha we saw a bunch of mapuches and they were doing some ritual,

Oh whoops it sent without me finishing. But I love you all. Sounds like you guys are living the life too. Know that I am the happiest and I wouldn’t trade my place for anything in the whole entire world. I am doing what I love and loving what I do.

Love,

Hermana Kleinman

PS know that there is a Hermana (basically a Chilean) kneeling and praying for you guys every single night.

Week 69 - (October 3)

So sorry for the short email. I’m short on time. BUT highlights of this week.

On Monday night we heart attacked all of the members of our ward. hahaha it was so fun. And they loved it. we taped hearts with words of encouragement on their doors and gates yelled alo and ran. I felt like I was in elementary school again doorbell ditching.

we started teaching the members the restoration and its super interesting to see the doubts and questions that the members have. we are really trying to strengthen the ward and we are hoping that this will help.

we had a mini exchange and I was in our sector with Hermana Lange and she is superrrr awesome. we were running over the place and were able to teach lessons the whole day. we found our investigator Oscar (ps Oscar reminds me SO much of Pablo who almost got baptized in Gorbea but then died from his cancer a few weeks later. Remember him? yeah well Oscar is literally his twin and I always have trouble calling him Pablo.) but we found him again and he has been reading the BofM a ton!!!! he marks the scriptures that he likes and he was so excited for conference. he came on Sunday morning and loved loved the talks about repentance. he said he could feel something super special but he wants to repent in his life and he let us read his notes to conference. sweet old man let me tell you. I wish I had more time to tell you about all the sweet Chileans. I love them.

We went to Victoria on Friday morning to do practices with the Hermana’s there and we talked about challenging everyone to baptism. it was cool to see their progress at the beginning of the practices until the last few.

General conference was awesssssssssssomeeeeeeeeeee. I loved loved loved loved the women’s session and Elder Uchtdorf. His talk about faith at the end really impacted me. if you didn’t see it. go and watch it. I loved every talk in general conference. I love how it talked about the doctrine of Christ and how we need to study it every day. I feel so privileged every day to be able to teach the Restored gospel of Jesus Christ and to represent my Savior.

love you all!!!!! Xoxox

Week 68 - (September 26) busy busy busy

This week kind of feels like it was a yearlong but at the same time light speed.

Miracles this week. I am really learning that when you completely forget yourself and work for others God really puts miracles in our paths.

We had two zone conferences this week and we talked about establishing the church in our own wards in one conference and then we talked about how to obedecer con la actitude de exactitud (to obey with the attitude of exactness) but it sounds cooler in Spanish. It’s been kind of crazy with having the Hermana’s so far in Victoria. an awesome experience though, one day we felt like the next morning we should go and study with the Hermana’s there in Victoria. that night their district leader called us and told us that they were super sad and everything and so that called confirmed our plans. We woke up super early and took a few buses to get to their house. We were buying them a treat at a little store right next to their house and we got a call from one of the Hermana’s saying hey I need to talk to you guys right now I’m having problems with my comp and I don’t know what to do!!! We were like okay yeah wait one sec and we knocked on their door. haha she was soooo happy to see us and was so confused. Literally the timing of God is perfect and it was a miracle. we were in Victoria yesterday after church again and we were able to do divisions with two Hermana’s there. another miracle, we couldn’t find any of her plans or nobody wanted to let us in so we said a prayer and felt like we should knock a certain street and only knock the houses with lights on. we knocked them all and the last house with the light on let us in and it was a family who is awesome!!! we got back from Victoria this morning.

in our sector we were walking one day and we felt like stopping a woman with her son (Barbara). Turns out that she is from Argentina haha my comp was so happy. But we were able to put a visit with her and the next day we went. She accepted a baptism date right away and told us that she is looking for something for her family but she can’t figure out what it is. The gospel obviously. She is married!!! and she came to church on Sunday and loved it loved it.

We have seen so many miracles in our sector lately and the people who I have told you about in other weeks are progressing slowly but surely towards their baptisms. I don know if I have mentioned Cintia and her fam. If not the next week. She is so golden!!!

we had a meeting with our stake president and he kind of gave a little wake up to our bishop which was nice. our stake pres. wants to split our ward and put a branch in Fundo el carmen (where we live) and so we have lots of plans in our sector to make it stronger when they do the split. We are trying new things to get the families who assist every other week to come every week. We are doing a fishing game with all of the members so that they can share the gospel too. We saw a huge growth in the wards attendance this week and it was greattttt. some crazy things to change in our ward but I know anything is possible with God. anything.

I am so grateful for my mission every day. it really is the best year and a half for my life and thankful for every one of you. love you all!!! Be the best members that you guys can be.

love,

Hermana Kleinman

hahhahha we were in the bus and a rapper man came on and he looked at me and goes seƱorita a word? We both (my comp and I) said baptism and he goes ok and then he made a rap about baptism. Mom and dad you are going to love the micros!!!
